Restoration - Furniture Restoration

8 Saturday mornings 9.30- 12.00.

This course will introduce the student to the following aspects of antique furniture restoration:

Recognising period styles.
Identifying substrates (timber).
Cleaning surfaces.
Hand and power tools.
Structural and non structural repairs
Finishing methods.

You will need to bring a piece of furniture to work on
(not too large) if you can, such as a chair, a small table, a box or a tray. Due to the wide scope of antique restoration, and the large variety of objects, materials and techniques, students may consider returning the next term.
